This past weekend, the Life in Color tour made it’s Vancouver stop to show off the latest edition of their show: Kingdom. The mid-day, outdoor dance party featured circus acts, over 1000 gallons of paint, and a killer lineup with a massive inflatable lions head as its centerpiece. Life in Color proudly takes the title of “Worlds Largest Paint Party” and rightfully so. We had the opportunity to get down and colorful with the fine folks of Vancouver and had the time of our lives.

Like most Blueprint massives, Kingdom was an all ages event. It seemed almost fitting for the stop to come through Vancouver when it did, since students were just getting back to school. The crowd was certainly full of those ready to send off summer with a bang and have one last go around before hitting the books.

The days lineup would feature sets from Giuliano Rascan, Dr. Fresch, Tigerlily, NIGHTMRE, and Knife Party. We arrived shortly after 4pm, while Giuliano Rascan was putting in some work for the freshly incoming crowd. While the paint cannons were still being prepped, that didn’t stop the crowd from getting in the spirit with their own paint. Life in Color has PLENTY of paint on hand for those wanting to share the love amongst friends (or strangers). We really enjoyed watching people slinging paint as they danced their cares away.

After Giuliano wrapped up his set, we caught our first glimpse of our Life in Color hosts. Three performers walked out on stage and welcomed us to Kingdom and then unleashed the paint hoses. After a good 5 minutes of full on paint mayhem, there wasn’t a white shirt left in the crowd. It was made clear very quickly that no one would be leaving the night without being covered in paint from head to toe. Kingdom had officially begun, and Dr. Fresch wasted no time whipping up a set that reminded us of his earlier performance this year at Shambhala. It’s almost impossible to not sit want to dance when you here tracks like Gangsta Gangsta or the always popular Hello.

Without a moment to spare, Australian DJ and producer Dara Hayes, better known as Tigerlily hit the decks. As a relatively new artist to the scene, she’s been stealing the hearts of fans and we could see why after seeing her live. With plenty of energy, and lot of hype, Dana’s big drops were perfectly timed with Kingdom’s massive paint cannons.
