Just when you began to wonder whether we would see new original work from Dannic to start the New Year, he comes through with a massive teaser that could have no other name but Lion. It’s been over two months since his release of Blueprint, a goose bump inducing collab with Sick Individuals that blew us all away. Hungry for more, we patiently waited for his grand New Year emergence. The wait will soon be over. The Lion preview gives us two minutes of pure progressive bliss, and is certainly song enough to hold us over 7 more days. That’s right, one more week. Lion is set to come out on Revealed Recordings January 20th, so make sure to save the date.
Right from the start, a hallow sounding metronome captures your attention, inducing an involuntary foot tap. Melodic but hard synths start right in at an exciting pace. The drop hits like a tsunami. It feels as though a very generic drop is about to take place, but instead what we get is something much more exhilarating and different. As we become hopelessly tangled and caught in the tracks current, the abrupt ending reminds us that we only have seven more days to wait. Now take a deep breath in, hold it, and listen. That’s the sound of your heart beating on to the pace of the metronome.
