It’s been a busy year for Skrillex, full of music and touring with his side projects Jack U (with Diplo) and Dog Blood (Boyz Noize). After taking time for his takeover tour where he spent seven nights in San Francisco and five in Brooklyn, it appears as though he’s surfaced with some brand new music.
Today he announced a massive tour with a conspicuously open weekend right around Paradiso, followed soon by a curious app called “Alien Ride,” where beating levels of a game would send lucky users to new music. A new song was added to the game every 30 minutes beginning at 3:30 PDT today, and from there the internet took over. Every track has been subsequently uploaded on both YouTube and Soundcloud by people who’ve beat the game, with each track periodically getting taken down after copyright claims.
For now, the information we have goes as follows: The new album is called Recess, so far it has upwards of 11 tracks featuring a bevy of collabs including Kill the Noise and Chance The Rapper, and it’s a strange, new step away from Skrillex’s days of Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites.
