Shambhala Mix Series Returns for 2016

Helping cope with the high level of excitement coupled with anxiety, Shambhala Music Festival has once again brought us their wonderful Mix Series on their Soundcloud. Each year, the fine folks of Shambhala partner up with some of the best artists in their lineup to give us a small taste of what’s to come. The past Mix Series have included the likes of Pigeon Hole, Spiral Architects, and Truth. With such a diverse lineup of artists it’s been a great way to introduce us to new music and get us amped to return back home to the farm.

The Mix Series kicked off 2 weeks ago with Chuurch, a House/Bass duo from Calgary, Alberta. The two will be performing this year at the Pagoda stage, and if we can expect anything after this mix it’s going to be nothing but good times. The mix features collaborations with Vince Staples, With You, Rrotik, and Amanda Blank – and is entirely comprised of 100% original material.

Coming in next is San Francisco based, Only Now, also know as Kush Auroa, who’s ability to bring together sounds of old and new since the mid-2000’s has not gone unnoticed. Kush Auroa’s original material definitely fell more into the dubstep/electronic dance hall; while his latest project, Only Now, looks to push the boundaries of electronic music by joining “electro-african rhythm-based subgenres, uniquely infusing industrial influences of yesteryear.” Break out your hoops and poi because Only Now will be playing the Living Room come August, and his 30 minute set is just a taste of what’s to come.

Finally, to round off the list (so far) are Vancouver locals, and certainly no strangers to Shambhala, DJ Cure & HxdB, also know as Greazus. If you’ve had a chance to see these two perform in the past, then you know it’s not a set to miss. We’ll be getting a full fix from them in under 55 days, but for now we’ll settle for this 31-track set of greasy goodness. Be sure to check them out at the Ampitheatre, and don’t forget to bring a towel… it’s gonna be dirty!

With more great mixes to come, we can only hope this will help cut some of the anticipation that has been building for the last 10 months. We look forward to getting to know more of this year’s artists, as well as discovering new music. We highly suggest to follow Shambhala Music Festival on Soundcloud to stay up to date with new releases each week. We cannot wait to see all your smiling faces back on the farm this August!

Our 2016 Festival Season is already shaping up to be our biggest yet. On the calendar, we’ve got EDC Las Vegas just a few short days away. Followed by FVDED in the Park in Vancouver, Paradiso at The Gorge, and Bass Coast in Merritt, BC just to name a few. Be on the look out for our pre-event articles, plus plenty of post event recaps, photos and more. Here’s to another great year of music, dancing and weird times with the best family we could as for!
