Motion Notion taking a break for 2019

British Columbia’s transformational festival Motion Notion has sadly joined the ranks of canceled festivals this year. In a poignant online statement, the MoNo crew expressed their sadness on the matter and promised a return in 2020. Formerly held in Golden, BC, the festival relocated to Merritt, BC on the site usually used by Bass Coast, and the country music festival Rockin’ River.

With the sudden venue change in 2018, the festival still soldiered on, in a remarkable feat of organization and resourcefulness. The festival features a unique blend of artistry and music, a warm community spirit and a family-friendly atmosphere.

Environmental concerns also seem to have played a part. The announcement cited “having a significant portion of Western North America on fire” as among the reasons for the cancellation. This is highly understandable; consider Shambhala Music Festival’s 2017 hurdles when it dealt with a nearby wildfire and standby evacuation orders. However, 2020 will also be the MoNo’s 20th anniversary, and we can’t wait to see what the festival has up its sleeve for the occasion.
