Ultra announces it’s cutting ties with Miami, begins search for new location

Ultra Miami has been synonymous with the start of the festival and rave scene since 1999. However, this year’s Ultra was a bit different than ones in the past. The city of Miami ultimately forced them to change locations from their downtown location, to Virginia Key. In doing so, the event experienced a rash of logistical difficulties that led to many dubbing it Fyre Fest 2.0.

Well, Ultra has heard those calls. In a letter posted to social media, Ultra announced that they would no longer be working with the City of Miami for next year’s edition of Ultra. As far as their new location is concerned, Ultra says they are in the process of “finalizing a new South Florida location that will serve as an incredible and permanent home for Ultra Music Festival.”

Speculation abounds, our best guess is that it will be in the same location as the Okeechobee Music Festival, Sunshine Grove. Then again, your guess is as good as ours.

We will continue to keep you updated as soon as we know more.

Phillip was raised on so many different genres of music, it has given him a unique perspective into the ever evolving music scene. Trance music began defining his life at the young age of 14, but thoroughly enjoys any type of music equally. He sees the music as an escape from the daily doldrums of life and says music can change a persons life in an instant pulling from his own experiences. His only goal in life is to share wonderful music with people and take electronic music to a higher plain with more accountability and creating a safer environment for his friends.
