NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal is taking over Seattle’s Pioneer Square this summer, bringing his hard-hitting dubstep set as DJ Diesel during the FIFA World Cup. Shaq is headlining a massive block party on June 20 that is sure to shake the city. The party starts at 7 p.m. and will take place at Brick Park.
DJ Diesel will be supported by local artists Keeb, Gensuo, Megatron, and ATALI.

Seattle gears up for World Cup takeover
Expect the block party to be packed, as the Seattle Department of Transportation estimates 750,000 fans will pour into Seattle over the span of the World Cup. The city is even blocking off roads four hours before each match to turn Pioneer Square into a pedestrian-only zone.
World Cup matches in Seattle kick off on June 15, with Belgium vs Egypt, followed by USA vs. Australia on June 19. Bosnia-Herzegovina will take on Qatar on June 24, and Egypt vs Iran will round out the group-stage play on June 26.
Seattle will also host a Round of 32 match on July 1 and a Round of 16 match on July 6.
Another big name heading to Seattle
Shaq isn’t the only performer heading to the Emerald City during the World Cup. Tiësto will be playing at the Seattle Center on June 19.
“Set in the heart of Seattle Center, Fisher Pavilion will present a rare opportunity to experience Tiësto in an intimate, yet high-impact setting with best-in-class production value and euphoric energy that has defined his DJ sets for the last thirty years,” Insomniac stated in a news release.
With major performers flying in for the tournament, the World Cup is shaping up to be one of the most electric events the city has ever seen.
