10 Shambhala Sets We Won’t Be Missing This Summer

[divider]J. PHLIP[/divider]

One of the few female artists to make their way into the Shambhala 2015 lineup, as well as other festivals throughout the summer, the Midwest’s J. Phlip is another Dirtybird inclusion we can’t wait for. From beginning her dream with a set of decks on her 19th birthday to studying engineering, Jessica Phillipe has been impressing everyone in sight. A true tech house headliner, who’s skills are best appreciated live, J. Phlip’s set will feature an audience that only grows when she returns to The Pagoda for her second Shambhala performance in as many years.

Undoubtedly the greatest name, not only at Shambhala 2015, but possibly in the history of aliases, Space Jesus (also known as Jasha Tull) will have our full attention during his set this summer. The Brooklyn-native has been working more on the production side for the better part of two decades, with frim roots in hip-hop. He’s supported artists like Big Gigantic, Feed Me, Infected Mushroom, Break Science, and more throughout his time performing as a DJ. His Shambhala debut will be taking place at The Amphitheatre stage, and we’ll be there, fully prepared to accept him into our hearts.

A pair of annual visitors to Shambhala, Canadian duo The Funk Hunters are another act renowned for their live performances, and will be making their usual visit to the Fractal Forest stage at Shambhala 2015. The Vancouver-based group, made up of Nick Middleton and Duncan Smith, are a hypnotic blend of hip-hop and funk that we can’t resist, much less at one of North America’s most scenic venues. Their history of Shambhala sets is a must for any pre-festival playlist, but it’s their 2015 set that we’ll be thinking about all summer long.

[divider]GRIZ[/divider]

Detroit-based 24-year-old Grant Kwiecinski, better known as GRiZ, returns to Shambhala in 2015 after performances in both 2013 and 2014 at The Village Stage. This time, though, he’ll be bringing the funk to The Pagoda. We’ve already asked for some B2B action with fellow headliner Pretty Lights, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for some Shambala surprises. He recently released a new album, Say It Loud, which firmly cemented his spot on this list. He’s a Shambhala vet, a fan-favorite, and one of the genres rising stars, and there’s no way we’re missing the chance to catch him at The Pagoda this summer.
