“The current state of trance in the Northwest is in a healing state right now. It feels like the band-aid can come off, and now the scar can heal on its own. After seeing some of the shows decrease in numbers, I began The Sounds Of Trance. A show for local djs who are passionate about the very genre I love almost more than life itself. I did this to give a home for our sound during its early stages of healing.

One thing I have learned about Seattle over the past year, is that we have by far, one of the most passionate fans of the genre in the world. That Seattle Trance Family logo was revamped by Invincity last year, and today, you can catch that flag at almost any big trance event in the WORLD. That really says something about the heart of the Pacific Northwest. However, one of the biggest issues we have had, is our attendance for some shows. As much as we want to feel like our genre had disappeared on it’s own, a large issue with that is the attendance for those shows earlier.

One of the biggest things I’ve noticed about the House and Bass music fans of Seattle, is no matter the headliner, big or small, they seem to show up in large numbers on a consistent basis. Now I don’t believe this is because those genres of music are more popular, I think all genres in the PNW have a pretty equal following, but the attendance doesn’t seem to reflect that all the time. I think 2016 is a big moment for not just the Pacific Northwest, but for trance as a whole. It feels like this is our year, and the rebirth of something beautiful. But to keep things like this going, we have to show up, as much as we can, whenever we can.

We all want to see Armin van Buuren, Aly & Fila, Markus Schulz, and any other big name out there. But to pay for those names, you have to show up for other names and shows too. Whether it’s a local show, or a headliner show, all of these events cost money. And that’s something I think we can all pull together and make happen in larger numbers in the years to follow. Make no mistake about it, the trance family of the Pacific Northwest is loud!!! And we have made a lot of noise all over the country in the past year.

We’re at a critical point, and we have the power to truly turn things around.”
