4 Stats & Facts You Didn’t Know About Lucky 2015

[divider]1: Ratio of Male-to-Female Artists[/divider]

A trend that isn’t confined to the Northwest, Lucky 2015 features zero non-local female artists. This is the second time in its four-year run that Lucky has had such a lineup, the other time coming in 2012. Lucky has a lifetime male-to-female ratio of 108:2, with only Nadia Ali in 2013 and Josie (one-half of Candyland) in 2014 being booked.

Other festivals going on in mid-to-late March, like UME South Padre and Beyond Wonderland, also feature very few female artists. In UME South Padre’s 15-artist lineup, there are no women, while Beyond Wonderland has three female artists in their lineup which features more than 70 artists. While it’s a much smaller show, the Get Lucky Dada Land Compound in Utah also has an all-male five-artist lineup.

Takeaway: If you’re looking for a festival featuring several of the top female artists in dance music, keep looking.

[divider]2: Recent Artist Visits[/divider]

Festivals are often the best way to catch artists who don’t tour consistently, or make a habit of leaving the Northwest off of their schedules (SKRILLEX). When it comes to recent Northwest visits, Lucky 2015 has a solid spread of friendly-faces and relative strangers. Ten of the 31 artists performing haven’t played in the Northwest in more than a year, with eight of those artists ignoring our corner of the country for more than 18 months.

Of course, that means about two-thirds of the lineup has been in the area within the last year, but with the friendly faces that Lucky 2015 features, we aren’t complaining. Artists like Seven Lions, Aly & Fila, The Chainsmokers, and Brillz will always draw a crowd, regardless of how often they visit the PNW. We also can’t hold back our excitement for the long-awaited return of Steve Angello (His last Seattle show as 2011), the new-look Norin & Rad, Zeds Dead’s FreakNight cancelled second-night redemption, and all of the other great artists who haven’t made it to the Emerald City in a while (or ever).

Takeaway: Artists that haven’t performed in the Northwest in more than a year include: Steve Angello, Neelix, MAKO, Ganz, Delta Heavy, Loadstar, and TC. If you’ve been waiting for any of these guys, here’s your shot!
