November is almost over and the month of December is stacking up quickly with new show announcements. Amongst the New Years’ blow out events are some can’t-miss shows, especially in the Portland area. One of the most charitable and easiest to attend events is 45 East’s Happy Holibass featuring Delta Heavy. As long as you sign up on the guest list ahead of time, and bring two items of canned food (or $10), you’ll get free access! There’s nothing better than getting to party for a purpose and 45 East is making it easy this giving season.
The European duo that makes up Delta Heavy is Ben Hall and Simon James, who released their second album Only In Dreams this past March. In an interview with EDM Joy, Delta Heavy talks about the creative process that went into producing Only in Dreams.
‘Going into Only In Dreams, where we were trying to develop our sound more, we actually felt like we wanted some new influences as well to kind of further develop it. Me and Ben obviously have been collaborating together since the beginning, but we never really collaborated outside of Delta Heavy that much, so it was something that we really focused on last year. We wanted to keep things fresh and try new stuff.”
One of the best examples of Delta Heavy expanding their sound is their collaboration with Zeds Dead on Lift You Up. This melodic track is full of DnB energy, and it’s unlike anything we’ve heard from them before. If you haven’t heard this wild and uplifting track yet, give it a listen below!
Delta Heavy is finishing up November strong with some midwest shows before heading to Romania, The Netherlands, and the U.K. After returning to their hometown to headline UKF10 London they’ll come to Portland to help us deck the halls with some DnB! Don’t forget to sign up for the guest list ahead of time and bring two canned food items to the door. Here’s a quick reference list from the Oregon Food Bank on what canned food items are most appreciated!
