ARMNHMR debut album ‘The Free World’ instant melodic bass hit

California-based duo ARMNHMR released their debut album this Friday. The Free World clocks in at 13 tracks on an emotional and gripping journey. Even as the previously released Silver Lining and The Universe is Yours bolstered our expectations, we consistently felt impressed throughout the entire project.

Standout tracks

The album opens with vocals that wash over a piano melody as the featured Melanie Fontana pauses amidst the music, takes a deep breath, and the first emotional drop hits. Creating fantasy, ARMNHMR soaks vocals and instrumentals with reverb until a peak when everything clears as the beat drops.

Another standout, Without You featuring Prismo, blends in elements of indie for a unique sound. His softer vocals over a melody of guitars let us easily move through the song. It’s perfectly placed before Hundred to Zero, which serves to raise tension in more of a big room EDM style.

The emotional climax of the album rests on Let Light Out, previously released a few weeks ago as a single. Vocalist Sunnie Williams undoubtedly soars, singing “I’ll shatter the lens that I see through, and somehow let this light out. What held me is broken, in pieces down on the floor, and I know someday I could be more.” The perfect song to belt out while driving, this track along with Silver Lining encourages perseverance and optimism in the face of adversity.

We couldn’t ask for a stronger debut from Joseph Chung and Joseph Abella of ARMNHMR. We anticipate 2020 will be a huge year, as they embark on their largest tour to date. Featuring stops in Portland and an already sold-out set in Seattle, The Free World tour comes to the northwest March 6th and 7th. Keep your eye on ARMNHMR, because we can’t wait to see what else they have planned for this year. Check out The Free World album, and let us know what you think.
