10 Tracks You’ll Love That Aren’t In The Beatport Top 100 (Feb ’14)

Breath - Beatport Feature

We’re all victims of mainstream products

Let’s face it. We’ve all been guilty of falling under the spell of the top Beatport charts. Throughout the last few years we’ve let those charts dictate what good music is… well, for the most part. What Beatport does is make things “easy” for your average DJ who doesn’t want to take the time to find unknown tunes to throw in their sets at the club or even in their Podcasts.

Grumpy Cat

Grumpy cat doesn’t want to hear your big room house either..

Some DJs and artists have grown comfortable thinking that those top charts are exactly what all audiences want to hear. Although that might be true in some cases, the ears of American’s are growing tired and irritated of that “mainstream” sound and frankly, they’re all ready and waiting for something new. Why not give it to them? Take the time to embrace the sounds of other genres and try new things out. Explore, who knows maybe you’ll find a hidden passion that you never knew about? Maybe you’ll expand your current musical knowledge and grow… that doesn’t sound too bad, does it?

Here are 10 tracks that have been released on Beatport that you probably wouldn’t normally find, only because you’re not looking for them and each one is a different genre.

Embrace. Listen. Enjoy.

Deep House

[toggle header=”Learn more about Deniz Kurtel:”]Deniz Kurtel developed a deep love and connection to the sentiments of electronic music during her studies in the USA. Growing up with constant exposure to art from her mother, an influential artist in Turkey, and years of classical piano training left her with a professional work ethic and a passion for art. An accomplished interactive sculptor, she quickly made a name for herself in the experimental art scene in New York, specializing in light sculptures with the use of LEDs and mirrors. Her work has been the centerpiece of countless Wolf + Lamb parties in Brooklyn, and has appeared in various art festivals and exhibitions such as Burningman, Communikey, Horizons, Love’s Secret Domain, and Rabbit Hole. Bringing her LED art background and her musical talent together, Deniz has built a LED installation to use for some of her live shows, that responds to her music.[/toggle]
