Escapade Music Festival is taking over Ottawa in Eastern Canada in a few weeks (June 28 – July 1), showcasing a handful of artists that will be playing Paradiso Festival as well. However, the festival has just announced it will be switching locations from Corkstown Road to the Rideau Carleton Raceway – two weeks before the festival takes place. Fans on Facebook have announced their opinions on the Escapade Music Festival Facebook page. The response from the promoters of Escapade Music Festival have had this to say about the matter:
Safety and Security is the festival’s utmost priority and concern. While this change may be inconvenient for some festival goers it was a move that we had to make on short notice. Escapade will take all measures possible to ensure the safest, most secure and convenient festival for all. Anyone who may have booked hotel rooms or campsite space near Wesley Clover Park. If you are part of that group please contact us directly at shuttle@escapademf.com and you will be provided with relocation options.

While we understand some changes sometimes need to be made, very rarely do you hear about instances like this where the promoters switch venues with so little notice to fans attending the festival. The fans do have a point: why wait several months to figure out that the venue you had originally picked will not be suitable for your event? Could this have been avoided earlier with better planning? Will there be enough free shuttles to host those who are in need?
