Fox Stevenson rocks the Crocodile on Sunk Cost Fallacy Tour (DMNW Review)

Last Wednesday, Fox Stevenson came to Seattle on his Sunk Cost Fallacy Tour to share his recently released full-length album. The Sunk Cost Fallacy Tour spans across Europe and North America, including Canada, the United States, France, Belgium, the United Kingdom, and Germany, giving fans around the world a chance to hear Fox Stevenson’s one-of-a-kind style and sound. On this tour, the Pacific Northwest got lucky with three stops in Portland, Vancouver, and, of course, Seattle.

Based in the Netherlands, the drum and bass mainstay pulled an impressive crowd to Downtown Seattle to hear hours of remixes, originals, mashups, and a very special performance. Fox Stevenson has built a dedicated following since his first major releases in the early 2010s, with his nostalgic, pop-punk-inspired melodies and epic vocal performances.

Amsterdam-based Drum and Bass producer Yue opened the night with her unique brand of poppy UKG-style D&B that had the crowd dancing before the end of her first track. We were really impressed by Yue’s song choice, transitional skills, and production quality. After a quick intermission, we were shocked to see a full arrangement of live instruments being set up on stage.

For the headlining event of the night, Fox Stevenson took the stage with a live band for a special performance. The group played an incredible fusion of drum and bass with live instrumentals, bringing a very human element to what is usually a more static DJ performance. This performance showed how truly talented Fox Stevenson is and has been, with an ability seldom seen in the electronic music industry, translating what is usually a strictly electronic format of performance into a full instrumental ensemble, all while maintaining the same feel and sound that he is known for.

For Fox Stevenson’s headline performance, he mostly played drum and bass, including some of his biggest tracks to date like Bruises and Dreamland, but took some time to return to his dubstep roots with tracks like New Amsterdam, Here We Go, and Miss You. This performance was a great showcase of the range and depth of Fox Stevenson’s career, spanning multiple genres, emotional palettes, and nearly two decades of music.

Fox Stevenson left the stage to a roar of cheers and screams from the crowd, ending an incredible performance that we were lucky to be a part of. For future tour dates, music, and info on Fox Stevenson, click here.
