Day 2

While we spent most of our time on Day 1 at the bass stage, Day 2, the Twisted Big Top was where all the action was at! The energy was high in the building early, as famed hi-hop producer Boi-1da incited the first mosh pit of the night. It was only 7 o’clock too! After dancing to PLENTY of Drake, Rihanna and Future, we made our way to the Midway stage, which had transformed to a house music stage. We got our shuffle on to Danny Howard and Hannah Wants, and even played a round of skeeball, before hopping back to the main stage for a healthy dose of R3hab. R3hab would get the crowd jumping early and often, before making way to our favorite Australian beauties, Nervo. Nervo, dressed in some pretty funky clown costumes, kept the energy going and even dropped a few surprises, like Flosstradamus’ hit Mosh Pit, some bass tracks and, Zombie Nation. What Halloween would be complete with Zombie Nation?!

When RL Grime took over the big top, the mood instantly changed. The lights were darker. The bass felt louder. The music…slower and heavy. The contrast between R3hab and Nervo to Grime was astonishing to experience. It really felt like Halloween! Armin van Buuren would keep those Halloween vibes going, opening his set with some progressive sound, complete with frightening shrieks in the background, before surprising us with psy trance that encompassed the second half of his set. Who could forget when he played TRIBAL psy, complete with a Native American figure on the LED screens? That moment completely threw us for a loop.

Zedd would help close the weekend’s action at the main stage, delivering another favorite set of ours. The crowd knew the words to almost all his vocal songs. Being able to meet new friends and sing along to Beautiful Now and Clarity; those are moments we won’t forget.

Freaknight 2016 was full of tricks and treats. Looking back at it just brings smiles to our faces. The costumes were on point; most people participated and some people had some truly amazing outfits. Special shout out to Ms. Frizzle & her magic school bus, and the girl dressed as Slender Man from The Babadook! Here’s to the 21st edition of Freaknight next year, and the moments that will surely come with it.

What was your favorite Freaknight 2016 moment? Did you dress up in costume? Drop a comment, and post pics, below!
