Gareth Emery Refuels For A ‘Drive’, Remix Style (Album Review)

[divider]Production[/divider]

With such a talented pool of artists each contributing their own take of Gareth’s tracks, you end up with a remix album that you can listen to comfortably at home or on blast in a club mix or at a party. There is plenty of energy and the dirty dutch helps take it up a notch. A stand out track for the production was Bryan Kearney’s remix of the trance song U, as it’s given a harder, faster trance feel. It takes a nice, melodic vocal trance song and turns up the BPM; the result is an edgier trance song.

Standout Track: Lights & Thunder (R3hab Remix)

There is nothing new in terms of songwriting for this remixed album. Instead, you will find the already excellent songwriting found in the original Drive and remixed and re-energized in this new album.

Standout Track: Dynamite (Walden Remix)

[divider]Cohesion[/divider]

The remix album itself has a solid foundation with the original Drive and the worked remix version is just as good if not better. The original 12 tracks get rearranged and reworked in a way that you feel like you’re at a festival, on the decks with Gareth;  that’s always a good thing. Overall, the blend of trance, progressive and electro is well done and it feels right.

Standout Track: Entrada (BL3R Remix)

[divider]Originality[/divider]

The album features plenty of new remixes to keep you dancing and energized. The original album already had a good blend of genres and energy and this new one ups the intensity and adds a bit of variety. Big room and electro are well represented but we especially liked the addition of more hard trance. With Armin’s big push of Who’s Afraid Of 138!?, more people are starting to be interested in harder trance.

Standout Track: Dynamite (MaRLo Remix)

Drive:Refueled is an excellent follow up to an already delightful album. The energy is right, and it has good flow. The artists brought on board each presented a l different twist to keep fans with different tastes satisfied. The first album is well mixed and the bonus tracks offer even more variety for those looking to check out new sounds.  If you haven’t already checked out Gareth’s Drive, we suggest you should check it out. His new remix album will be out on March 3 and it’s definitely one to take notice of.  Hopefully, you add some songs to your playlists. Let us know what you think so far on Facebook and Twitter regarding the pre-released tracks.
