The Ill.Methodology Workshop Is A Producer’s Block Cure

If you haven’t already checked out Ill.Gates’ Methodology Workshop Chapter one on YouTube yet, then you need to do it ASAP. The 42 minute long trailer, or “Lesson Zero” of the six lesson series, contains an abundance of ill insight. Ill.Gates covers a variety of topics throughout the trailer, including skills that could very easily be applied to normal day-to-day life; however, the main target of Ill.Gates’ speech is to solve workflow problems for aspiring music producers.

Ill.Gates thinks about music in all of the right ways, which has obviously played a huge role in both his success and his ability to share his knowledge with the world. One thing Ill Gates mentioned that really stood out to us was to “get out of your own way”. A producer’s worst nightmare when they first get the ball rolling is staring blankly at their DAW screen. Unfortunately, for many producers, this is also a reality. Getting out of your own way is absolutely essential when facing this problem, as it allows us as producers to continuously express our creativity within, instead of hitting roadblocks and completely over-thinking everything.
