Meow The Jewels: A Cause Worth Your Donation

Veteran hip-hop duo Run The Jewels are backing a Kickstarter campaign that is more than worth donating to right meow. The campaign was started to purchase one of the packages available on the Run The Jewels’ (consisting of El-P and Killer Mike) online store. If purchased, for $40,000, the duo will re-record their upcoming album RTJ2 using nothing but cat sounds for music. Nothing. But. Cat. Sounds. There are other, similarly awesome packages available in the store, but there’s none more deserving of your donation than this one.

The compilation of remixes has been dubbed Meow The Jewels and the Kickstarter fund has reached more than $20,000 out of their $45,100 goal. The additional $5,100 is for Kickstarter and Amazon fees, as well as for rewards and shipping. El-P has been vocal on Twitter with his support for the campaign and has stated that he will donate the money somewhere that will directly benefit the families of Eric Garner and Mike Brown. Garner, 43, was accused of selling untaxed cigarettes in Staten Island when a police officer put him in a chokehold, causing him to suffer neck and chest compressions, and resulted in his death earlier this summer. Michael Brown, 18, and a friend, were walking in the middle of the street in a St. Louis suburb and drew the attention of a local cop who, after an incident, shot and killed the unarmed Brown.

We can’t imagine a better way to celebrate the release of Run The Jewels’ upcoming album than with a project like Meow The Jewels. There’s nothing like great artists working together with their fans for a worthy cause, and having fun while doing it. Meeeeeoooowwwwwww.
