We hereby formally declare 2014 as the Year of Sonny Moore. From dropping one of the biggest releases of the year Recess, to forming the power couple of JACK U with fellow EDM superstar Diplo, the Grammy-winning artist better known as Skrillex is giving fans a lot to be happy about. In the words of the late Billy Mays, “but wait, there’s more!”
Skrillex is premiering a 35-minute documentary entitled, Let’s Build A Spaceship: Skrillex Mothership Tour 2014, produced in partnership with Red Bull. It brings fans behind-the-scenes of his 20-city Mothership Tour earlier this year, along with OWSLA’s What So Not, Milo & Otis, Mad Decent’s Dillon Francis, and DJ Snake. The film showcases the technical production side of the tour, including the building of the stunning 25-foot spaceship which sat as the stage centerpiece. The LA-based DJ and producer says in the teaser,
“Shows are very important for me. It’s almost why I create music as Skrillex…Looking out there and seeing all these people connecting with the music is the most gratifying thing in the world. Once I’ve reached a certain level in my head of a standard, I always want to beat that next time. I want to take it a little bit further.”
Let’s Build A Spaceship is available on Saturday, October 11 at 6:45 p.m. PST, immediately following Skrillex’s headlining performance at the second weekend of the Austin City Limits Festival.
