Download Suicideyear’s ‘HAVEFUN 001’ Mixtape

Living proof that music production programs are working their way into the hands of younger and younger musicans, Baton Rouge teenager James Prudhomme can ring in the new year with a well deserved celebration. We eagerly await any forthcoming 2014 material with a knife and fork held, at the ready. Prudhomme aka Suicideyear (aka the guy behind one of the years most profitable YouTube fodder) on his ‘HAVEFUN 001’ mixtape provides powerful, bouncing percussion that fires off like rounds from an AK-47 in a slow-motion action movie sequence. And if that wasn’t enough to make you drop everything you’re doing and head over to the kids bandcamp to grab his pay-what-you-can mixtape, the guy also has converted some of hip-hop’s more infamous chest pounding masculine bangerz into gliding smooth R&B dreams.

Suicideyear's surprises on his newest mixtape

Suicideyear’s surprises on his newest mixtape

Puffing so much air into Lil Wayne’s iconic A Milli, Suicideyear shapes it into a laid back lazy-boy cloud chair. ‘HAVEFUN 001′ features a Britney cover and one shimmering original track frighteningly titled Friday but most of the material here is Suicideyear just flexin his  remix muscles. ‘HAVEFUN 001’ provides a stage for the summer concert festival you always wanted, Rich The Kid, Future, Drake, Lil B, Danny Brown, & Dem Franchise Boyz all together playing around suicideyear’s daydream trap beats. The mixtape features a couple dressed down pop missteps a tad too repetitive to live, cognitive, functioning lives. Like the remix of Bruno Mars’s Treasure in particular needs to be hermetically sealed in a Tupperwear container then shot into the stratosphere, far away from where it can ever be heard by humanity. Despite the missteps, Treasure and John Hart’s Who Booty do provide a picture of the upper echelon this practically unknown producer aspires to be at. After people start to hear this mixtape, Suicideyear is gonna need at least a couple phones. At the end 2013 it’s clear, 2014 is going to be a suicideyear.
