An artist is releasing a comic book to go with their most recent release, a music streaming giant is continuing to rake in the cash, and an all-female dance-music collective is continuing to create change in the industry. Huh?

Finding the proper response to much of the news finding its way into our social media feeds is becoming a tougher task every day. Nothing is surprising, and there’s always more to the story. Leaving us with one reply: “huh?”.

Last week, Canadian DJ/producer REZZ announced the upcoming release of a comic book going by the same name as her latest musical release, sources supposedly close to Spotify are saying the company is bringing in billions, while Discwoman is doing incredible work in the global dance music community.

The reason “huh?”, in its various forms, is such a quality reply is simple. The word is as versatile as a response gets, and while it may require some explanation, “huh?” is sometimes the only way to react to the news of today. Defined by Merriam-Webster as an interjection that’s “used to express surprise, disbelief, or confusion, or as an inquiry inviting affirmative reply”, “huh” or “huh?” can mean a lot of different things.

Despite some of the follies of human evolution (see: Flight Issues), the development and growth of “huh” is something we should embrace. To be the change we want to see in the world, here are a few EDM stories last week that made us go “huh?”.

REZZ is releasing a comic book

Fan-favorite and Northwest-regular REZZ is releasing a comic book. Huh?

The 22-year-old Canadian DJ/producer worked with illustrator and animator Luis Colindres to create a 60-page comic book entitled Mass Manipulation, just like her debut album. That album was released in early-August, and in our humble opinion, is one of the best in dance music in 2017. Now, we’ll be treated to an accompanying work of art, showcasing the creativity and multi-medium mindset of the ultra-talented REZZ.

The comic book is available for pre-order in REZZ’s online store. Currently priced at $39.99, Mass Manipulation will have a limited pressing of 2,000 copies. If you’d like yours, we suggest you pre-order as soon as possible, and countdown the days until it ships in late-November.

She released a teaser of the comic book in a music video (above), featuring one of the tunes from Mass Manipulation. That tune, Premonition, will likely be played in the Northwest a few times next month. REZZ will be performing at the Roseland Theater in Portland on October 20th, before a double-dip in Seattle at the Showbox SODO on the 21st and 22nd.
