3LAU at Whiskey Bar PDX (Event Review)

[numblock num=”8.5″ style=”3″] Quite possibly one of the best shows to date at Whiskey Bar PDX as 3LAU took the stage to a packed house where there was not a person in site whom wasn’t dancing and having the time of their lives. [/numblock]

Friday night brought on a full crowd to Whiskey Bar PDX as progressive house phenomenon 3LAU was set to headline for what was for certain going to be an unforgettable show. A line had already formed by 10:30pm, as eager patrons waited to get inside where local Evan Alexander had already taken stage while throwing down some heavy bass beats.

Slowly but surely, the crowd continued to get bigger until the venue was literally wall-to-wall people within an hour. The energy of the crowd was excellent and set the tone, as everyone was dancing the night away. Portland legend Jamie Meushaw amped the venue even more as he played a crowd-pleasing house and electro set from his familiar Habit Forming Sessions.

The vibe at Whiskey Bar this past Friday was certainly one to remember. In the last several months, never have we seen so many happy faces, people dancing, or just overall excitement for the music before the headliner even took the stage. Everyone there that evening was certainly in for a treat. Once 3LAU took the stage after midnight, the shouting and cheering was deafening. Bright lights and lasers took over and there was a sudden feeling of euphoria.

As a younger artist at the age of 23, 3LAU has no where to go but up. He’s already proven his talent and popularity among the masses, playing at such festivals as our very own Paradiso along with Electric Daisy Carnival. Needless to say, 3LAU’s set was electrifying. His raw energy and passion for the music truly showed in his performance. At one point of the evening he even jumped on top of the decks towards the crowd.

Hands were in the air and for a straight hour-and-a-half, the music took over us and we we danced like no one was watching. It goes without saying that the highlight of the set was when 3LAU played his latest song, Escape, and we could see everyone’s eyes instantly light up with excitement. It was certainly a night to remember, and we can only hope that he comes back to Portland soon!

Lover of all things electronic. As a previous lead singer her music roots run deep and appreciation for all genres and artists runs high. She can be found dancing and singing along to the likes of Alesso, Hardwell, and Dash Berlin. Most awkward EDM moment? Watching Borgore sing karaoke.
