How Vivid Presents is helping spearhead the resurgence of Seattle nightlife

There has been a tangible and visible resurgence in electronic music since 2020. Genres are spreading across the world, artists are riding incredible waves, hundreds of thousands of new fans are entering the scene, and the music has made its prominence across social media platforms.

Zooming in, this has created changes in the hyperlocal market of Seattle nightlife and electronic music. A lot has been happening in our community recently that points towards Seattle’s growth as a hub for electronic music, and Vivid Presents looks to be at the front of this push.

But how does one find the mix between what sells and what is socially conscious and organic, especially in today’s digitally driven world? What does it mean for Vivid to continue to mature and flourish? How do you find the right balance between remaining true to the community, and production, and making events as all-inclusive as possible?

Vivid aims to be truly experiential and intimate for both attendees and the artist. The atmosphere at Vivid events makes attendees feel like they are participating and are an integral part of the night. The experience for the artist is elevated as well, as the Vivid team creates an authentic Seattle experience for them from the moment they step off the plane. Vivid events can showcase our city in its best light. Vivid recognizes the challenges presented and is ready to adapt and expand itself to meet the scene where it’s heading while remaining true to its core values.

Simultaneously, they recognize the opportunity that is at hand. Vivid plans to differentiate itself through more thoughtful, intentional types of events. Vivid’s lead, Jody Ramsammy, simply, but powerfully refers to what’s about to happen as, “Our time.”

“A common thread I am seeing is that people like the mix between high experiential (heavy production and design) and a non-traditional venue.” – Jody Ramsammy

The last time we talked to Vivid, they were just coming back to their form. Since then, Vivid has been back in the community since March 2023, producing 19 events and hosting over 4,500 guests. Here’s the quick and dirty on what lies ahead for Vivid Presents.

Back to Boat, Venue Takeovers on Vivid’s roster

Vivid Venue Takeovers will serve as one event with three different experiences through three different genres. The event will have three different rooms with local artists spinning Trance & Progressive House, Techno, and Tech House. Vivid Takeover events look to lift up the community in several ways.

For the events, Vivid will partner with local event promoters and production entities. Takeover Events provides local artists the opportunity to network, get their reps in, and make themselves known to Seattle. The event’s variety brings different communities in the scene under one roof and introduces genres to each other that attendees might not normally listen to. Vivid’s first Takeover event last month partnered up with Depth and featured headliner Laura Van Dam. Check out all the goodness of that night below!

Vivid Signature Events will continue to partner with different local brands and event productions groups. The events curated take place outside of the traditional club setting. Vivid closed out the summer partnering with Groove Cruise for Vivid Presents B2B (Back to Boat) where Seattle’s hottest local talent go b2b on a boat cruising around Lake Washington and paid homage to a Vivid Fam favorite The Sunset Sessions that is planned to return in summer 2024.

Last week, Vivid announced their newest and biggest installment event to date. As a new event series, Vivid Presents Experience brings Fatum to the front stage. The Vivid team wanted to double down on producing short format, one-off events that take place in a non-traditional venue. The very first Experience event will feature Fatum on October 21st at the Bellevue Arts Museum. The first time a Vivid event will be held on the Eastside which has been much requested from the extended Vivid Fam. The theme of the night is Avant-Garde and post-apocalyptic black and white; so bring your best end of the world outfit to the table.

Experience will allow you to enjoy tunes from Fatum and be featured in the live recording of their performance while exploring two additional levels of immersive art. The ticket for this includes a meal as well as access to the Fatum After Party at Central Bar & Restaurant. Tickets for Experience, as well as all Vivid’s other events, can be purchased here.

It’s been a successful return, but Vivid’s Jody Ramsammy has his eyes and heart set on more, much more. Ramsammy’s hints at hosting a Vivid Presents Experience Festival and an expansion across Portland, Vancouver CA, Scottsdale and San Diego and why not London & Paris in 2024. As Ramsammy leads the Vivid team, he is incredibly in-tune with the energy of the scene, listening to the feedback from attendees, and recognizes what people want on a night or day out. Full steam ahead for the Vivid team and family.
