We also had the opportunity to discuss with CID his artistic technique and development of his popular reworks. When creating a track, CID always likes to start with a main idea, whatever that may be.

“Whatever that idea is what needs to stick for me first. Honestly, a lot of trial and error. There’s days I’m in the the studio that I just make shit all day, and then there’s that once in a while where I do something that just clicks. It’s about just putting in the hours, and waiting for those moments when things come together.”

After this, he says it’s not the most complicated to arrange it. That part falls more easily for him. When creating his reworks Together and No!, he used his interest in 90s music to develop the tracks. Together is based off the classic hit, Got Myself Together. CID created the track when he first signed with Big Beat Atlantic. They were one of the original, big house labels of the 90s, so CID was inspired to go through their old catalog, find something from the 90s and rearrange it.

When constructing the No Scrubs rework No!, he admitted TLC’s Waterfalls was one of the first cassettes or CDs he owned. He initially created No! based on the beat, and constructed the instrumental first. Upon finishing the musical style of the song, CID was searching through different acapella’s, realizing the lyrics from No Scrubs would fit well.

A lot has happened for CID over the last year. In discussing his accomplishments of 2016, he describes this as the first year he was able to really start touring. First with Kaskade last October, and then with Galantis earlier this year.

“It’s put me in front of all these amazing crowds and cities. Now, being able to bounce from that and doing my own shows in all of these cities has really been a highlight of my year.”

CID admitted to focusing more on club oriented things the last two years, which he still plans to continue to do. But, with 2017 he plans to focus more on songs, and making sets song driven. He also revealed some other exciting news for fans,

“I have a single coming out early next year. I don’t want to say who the vocalist is yet, but it’s someone I’m really excited to have featured on this song. I’ll mostly be putting out a lot more new music, more frequently. Definitely expect a lot of new music for 2017.”

We loved chatting with CID about his developments as an artist, and are excited to see what he has in store for 2017. To make sure you hear CID’s upcoming single, follow him on SoundCloud.
