Newest Monstercat artist Oblvyn has been one of bass music’s brightest rising stars over the last few years. After starting in 2018, she has quickly risen among the ranks and landed a few tracks at Monstercat where she recently showcased her music live for the first time at their Compound Festival this year.
As an up-and-comer, there are a lot of milestones to hit and among those milestones includes releasing a first album. Oblvyn can check this milestone off her bucket list as she just dropped her first ever EP entitled Dream Theory.
Consisting of 8 tracks, Dream Theory was inspired by Oblvyn’s own sleep patterns and tells the story of what our brains feel and see while dreaming. From the lucid dream, to the nightmare, to surrealism and beyond, each track explores the depth and range of one’s dreams throughout the night.
“Immersing listeners in a sonic journey through her dream cycles, the deep basses and infectious melodies simulate the fast-paced feeling of falling in Enter Rem or moving through molasses as time stands still in Dilation,” describes Oblvyn’s team.
Oblvyn’s characteristic upbeat hooks paired with unexpected basslines and ethereal vocal work, Dream Theory is an expose on future bass that revels in the mystery and cynicism of the genre but transfixes those ideals with fun pop undertones and vibrant otherworldly visions. Each track is perfectly curated for a different type of dream experience that affords each person the opportunity to find their own meaning hidden within.
With such a robust offering for a first album, we are very excited to see where the rapid success Dream Theory is sure to take Oblvyn next. If you would like to learn more about the artist and Dream Theory, we recently had the opportunity to speak with Oblvyn where she shared her processes with us. Be sure and check that out along with Dream Theory, which is out now on Spotify and Monstercat!
