Odesza brings back the thoughtful mixtape in era of livestreams

We are living in an age flooded with live streams. At this point, your typical electronic music fan has probably seen dozens of online performances since the novel coronavirus took its hold on the world.

Infinite live shows means that it can be hard to appreciate the in-studio mix. Odesza and Foreign Family Collective are working to remind everyone how remarkable a well thought out mixtape can be.

The Foreign Family Collective Intermission Mix started on March 25 when Odesza released the 12th edition of No Sleep. The No Sleep mix series is intended for the 3 or 4 am moments after a show; to help you relax and fall asleep.

No Sleep 12 was the kickoff to a weekly mix series hosted by the most influential artists on Odesza’s label, aptly named the Foreign Family Collective Intermission Broadcast.

The idea behind the new FFC intermission Broadcast is to expose fans to the wonderfully talented musicians that Odesza listen to. Bigger names like Jai Wolf and Chet Porter host weeks 2 and 4. Next, Odesza exposes us to big names that their fans aren’t paying attention to.

SG Lewis has nearly 3.7 million monthly Spotify listeners. You will find the British producer in week 5. Odesza thought it was time to clue in their fans to his remarkable music.

What about Robotaki and Tokimonsta? Have you explored their music? They appear in weeks 7 and 3 respectively.

Discovered a new artist from the FFC mix series that you are obsessed with now? Maybe an unreleased edit, or remix? Let us know in our comments section on Facebook, and Twitter!
