One of our favorite producers in Jai Wolf took to Instagram to celebrate the one year anniversary of his The Cure To Loneliness album. Jai Wolf highlighted the central themes from his album that are even more relevant today than they were when the album was first released: Isolation, loneliness, and self-reflection.

today marks the 1 year anniversary of my debut album The Cure To Loneliness. it’s an interesting time to talk about this record, considering the world is enduring a lot of the central themes I felt while writing it: literal physical isolation, emotional loneliness, self-reflection, and how to eventually accept your present conditions while the world continues to turn (or burn) – – – I could talk about my album for ages, but I‘d just like to say thank you to everyone who gave it a chance. this record to me is my first real step towards finding my sound. I think there was a time where a lot of people expected me to be a ~future bass soundcloud hero~ but that’s not really where I wanted to go. I’m grateful to everyone who stood by my side as I challenged myself to write a record that reflected myself in an honest way while also pushing myself forward as an artist – – – The TCTL 20 tour was meant to be a 1 year anniversary celebration for the record, however, despite the cancellations, I feel like this era still has a lot of life in it left…with a story worth telling in a live setting – – – in the meantime, if you’re ever feeling lonely during this quarantine, just know that this record will always be there for you ?
Jai Wolf worked hard to perfect his craft. It started when he remixed Skrillex’ Easy My Mind in 2015. Then Odesza signed him to their record label. We love The Cure to Loneliness so much because Jai Wolf was given the artistic freedom to release an album on his terms.
The Cure to Loneliness has a distinct sound. It has this interesting retro and 80’s vibe that isn’t found in Jai Wolf’s music before or after his album release. The distinct sound or vibe is the artistic part of the album. Jai Wolf created an album that we can still replay a year later and be smiling ear to ear.
With just one album Jai Wolf helped us in the past and now in the present. His album originally resonated with being single and fighting for a connection. That idea shape-shifted and developed a whole new meaning. The Cure To Loneliness now can resonate with the loneliness we feel from social distancing and self isolation. Jai Wolf gave us the cure and his words will stick with us,
“if you’re ever feeling lonely during this quarantine, just know that this record will always be there for you.”
Here’s the ad-blurb, please listen to The Cure to Loneliness.
We feel lucky to have experienced Jai Wolf’s live tour for his album. If you missed out in 2019 Jai Wolf is bringing back his live show in August and September. We hope he will find a way to reschedule his Seattle show.
Meanwhile we will keep racking up plays of The Cure To Loneliness album. Thank you to Jai Wolf for sharing. We want to know how much you have listened to the album, reach out to us on Facebook or Twitter!
