Our favorite Worlds star was met by thousands of singalong voices from the crowd at Coachella this past weekend, and it seems Porter Robinson was enjoying his crowd just as much as they were enjoying remixes of Mat Zo’s Easy, only briefly pausing the music to say “Coachella! Y’all are so great,” breathlessly into the mic. After a good 12 minutes into his set, Porter abruptly seized the crowd’s attentions by announcing the premiere of his take on The Thrill, the newest track released by Nero about a month ago. Admittedly, we couldn’t be more excited as Porter has made a return to Soundcloud with this remix. How Zefr will affect remixes like these however, will be a story for another time.
The original track has much of the head-banging elements of classic Nero that never fail to drive us wild, while Watson’s vocals drip with aching vulnerability for contrast. Porter however, plays directly into the delicacy of human emotions, giving The Thrill a subtle intro, before substituting Nero’s heavy bass with frenzied circulating synths.
