The History Behind Shaq’s Lengthy DJ Career and Lost Lands Appearance

This past weekend, Lost Lands blessed us with one of the best special guests of all time. If you only know Shaquille O’Neal through the NBA, he’s been fooling you as much as MTV’s Catfish. Probably the “largest” DJ any stage has ever seen, Shaquille O’Neal, also known as DJ Diesel, performed a whole set at Lost Lands! Feeling a little shook? It’s okay, we’ve got you covered. Shaq actually started his music career back in 1986, honing his talents as both a DJ and a rapper, and even collaborating with the late Biggie Smalls on a track. DJ Diesel has made appearances at TomorrowWorld and Life In Color China, and though his appearances are very limited, he sure knows how to draw in a crowd. Says Shaq in an interview with Ebro Darden on Beats 1:

“I like doing festivals, but my set is more trap, hip-hop and dubstep. For me, it’s like…we have that adrenaline rush when it comes to rocking crowds. When you go to festivals, they’re there to just see a great performance. I just give them great music, with the way I put my blends and mixes together.”

To close, here’s a small peek of DJ Diesel killing his set at Lost Lands:
