Suspect 44 Takes Us To A New Land With “Our Little World”

It is always incredibly satisfying for us here at Dance Music Northwest to debut new music from a Pacific Northwest local. Comprised of Seattle-native Luke Shipstad and Dutch-bred producers Hoz Sabir and Zhiar Mahmoud, Suspect 44 is creating a buzz. After the past three years, the trio has produced a broad array of ear candy, ranging from trance with tracks like Amazing to progressive songs such as the Anjunabeats-released Japanese Schoolgirls. Suspect 44 continues to add to their already diverse discography by releasing the incredibly soothing track Our Little World on Armada Music.

Back in August, we identified a local suspect of Suspect 44 as Bainbridge Island resident Luke Shipstad. With Luke’s upbringing, unbeknownst to many of Suspect 44’s followers, this news caused massive excitement for us Northwest dance music fans. The discovery was soon followed by a performance at Foundation Nightclub, for Suspect 44’s first ever Seattle performance. Hoz and Zhiar were not able to make the trip, but that only gave way to an awesome and intimate live set for Luke’s massive home opener.

Our Little World is an amazingly chill track that is bound to give you a much needed dose of summertime as we gear up for the winter. The song intros fantastically with a combination of melodic and soft synths, rhythmic claps and even the natural sounds of birds chirping. The ambient vibe in the beginning of Our Little World is undeniably entrancing and whisks you away into a brief daydream of sitting beachside with a margarita in hand.  The deep and groovy bassline casually lurches along to blend in perfectly with a beautiful Spanish guitar riff, acting as a flawless transition into the latter part of the song. You can consider this more jazz than dance music, but the warm and laid back sounds of Our Little World are simply too awesome to ignore.
