“We love selfies, duh…” – The Chainsmokers
New York is one of the many birth places for great artists and DJs in the United States. One of the coolest opportunities we’ve had here at Dance Music Northwest, is working with “the big apple” bred duo The Chainsmokers. Alex and Drew have a knack for always being original and entertaining. Whenever we talk they share a funny story or tell a joke, a good joke. As avid, and unbiased fans – we can’t say that anything they’ve ever sent our way has been nothing short of great.
Recently they’ve taken liberty to share with us a brand new melbourne house original. In the email they sent us, they said they couldn’t call this “original” but we kindly disagree. Not only does this melbourne house floor smasher posses all the elements that a club essential track should have, they’ve brilliantly mocked the well known “selfie” picture pose in the process.

The Chainsmokers first attack us with that well known melbourne bounce vibe, and suddenly right before the build up begins – a girls voice appears and starts talking about snapping a “selfie”. While we’re here dancing uncontrollably, we can’t keep from laughing. We all have different meanings of what “feel good” music sounds like, but this is truly one of the greatest representations we’ve heard in quite some time. Hearing “Reload” for the 70th thousand time might also make you laugh, sarcastically – as where Selfie brings a true epidemic to life through music, and it’s hilarious. Well down A & D, well done.
