The DMNW Guide To All of the Trance At FreakNight 2016

Lowering the BPM a tad bit are Maor Levi, Super8 & Tab and the Neptune Project. Maor Levi and Super8 & Tab are making their Seattle-Tacoma returns, following performances in the area earlier this year. We can’t wait to hear their silky smooth Anjuna sounds once again!

The lesser known Neptune Project, who hail from the United Kingdom, will be making their first Northwest appearance. The Neptune Project are maestros of extended sets. A look at their Soundcloud page shows sets lasting up to six hours! The cool thing about their music is that they manage to incorporate almost all of the elements that create trance’s sub-genres. We’re curious to see what they will bring to the table with an hour or so to work with!

Closing out the Midway stage on Friday is the legendary Paul Van Dyk. The word ‘redemption’ is starting to become commonly used when it comes to PvD and the Seattle area. Earlier this year, PvD was the scheduled headliner of USC’s first trance massive, Bliss: The Awakening. Then he fell off a stage at A State of Trance 750: Utrecht. Due to some serious injuries, PvD was replaced by Paul Oakenfold, a legend in his own right, as the trance world prayed for his swift recovery. In the back of our minds, we hoped he would heal and come back to Seattle sooner rather than later. It took a few months, but coming back he is for another shot at redemption. The most progressive out of Friday’s trance lineup, we can’t wait to celebrate PvD’s anticipated return to our area!

Looking at Saturday’s lineup, two words come to mind: ‘Armin Only’. Literally. Armin van Buuren is the ONLY trance act on Freaknight 2016’s final day! The godfather of trance makes his return to the Seattle area for the first time in what feels like forever, in what should be a magical headlining set. Are you ready to enter a state of trance?!
