1. Tell us about your favorite memory of Spectrum.

For me, Spectrum has always been more about the home base, family meeting feel that was built over time versus the shows individually. Walking in the room every 1st and 3rd Thursday and seeing most of my closest friends in Seattle all getting down to music we love felt like true comfort. If I had to choose one particular moment—it was pretty incredible to see someone as legendary as The Widdler play our night.

2. If you had to describe Spectrum in 1 sentence, what would it be?

808s and Rainier beer. Just kidding. Although those are two highly important ingredients in our figurative recipe.

3. Why is Spectrum coming to a close?

Spectrum was such an important stepping stone for all three of us. It taught us a ton about the industry and event production, but it’s gotten to the point that we collectively feel that our energy could be utilized in better ways. I’m going to miss it, but this is the right move for Tom Kha.

4. What’s next for you and Tom Kha?

I’d like for us to continue to own the space we’ve found ourselves in but reach a wider audience by doing less frequent, larger shows. Seattle has an established bass music scene, but in my opinion it’s always felt kind of sectioned off.

There’s a huge market for more EDM driven bass music.

We see a growing interest in “future bass”, as well as a really phenomenal and inspiring Drum N’ Bass scene. There’s a few niche nights scattered around town but there isn’t another Tom Kha that has nods to all of these styles.

Also, more dubstep. Seattle has a serious dearth of quality dubstep and I would love for us to jump in and fill that role.

5. Is there anything you’d like to say to Spectrum fans & artists?

Keep supporting the underground. Seriously. Trendy, formulaic genres will blow up, fill up huge convention centers, and then die off, but the community and longevity that’s created in underground music is forever. And thank you so, so, so much to all artists and attendees for coming through to our parties.

We’ve made such amazing friends through our events and we love the people in Seattle. It’s been wonderful to share the dancefloor with so many of you over the last year and a half. For those who have been to Spectrum, please come help us finish it off with a bang. We have some super dope lineups for the last two parties with an amazing range of DJs and producers. For those who haven’t been, this is your last chance! Come see why we’ve loved it so much <3

Also, Sasha and Peter are seriously the best. Book them for your shows.
