Pemberton Music Festival (Pemberton) July 13 – 16 (CANCELED)

Originally Pemberton Music Festival fell perfectly in the middle of our ultimate road trip. Unfortunately this years event has been canceled and the future of the event isn’t looking all too bright. Earlier this month we caught word the organizers would be canceling the event. If you’re planning to go from start to finish on this trip we’d suggest taking this week to rest, recollect yourself and prepare for the second half. A break for the music wouldn’t be such a bad thing and we can assure you there LOTS to do while in beautiful British Columbia. If you’d already made accommodation arrangements in Pemberton might we suggest a day trip to Whistler for some mountain biking of even bungee jumping. You’ll be in the prime of British Columbia’s summer season and there will be no shortage of adventures to be had. Make the best of a bad situation and get out to explore all that BC has to offer!

If you purchased a ticket to Pemberton and are looking for options on a refund be sure to check out our guide for what your options currently are.

Electric Love (Agassiz) July 28 – 31

After a short break and half of the road trip now behind you, we set our focus to a comparatively new festival to the circuit. With just a short, 90 minute drive outside of Vancouver, Electric Love returns for its 3rd year, and 2nd year as a four day event. With a vision of promoting not only international talent, but the “100-mile DJ” as well, Electric Love aims to showcase what British Columbia has to offer from their music scene. Many names on this year’s lineup will be familiar to you at this point so it’s a perfect opportunity to fully immerse yourself into the diverse music scene offered up by BC. We love the fully inclusive, community vibe that Electric Love promotes and look forward to experiencing this one for ourselves this year.

Shambhala (Salmo) August 11 – 14

As we come out of July and into August we begin to round off the end of our road trip. While you’d think at this point it was time to start winding down, you’ll be doing exactly the opposite. After a full six weeks on the road you’ll finally be making your way to one of British Columbia’s greatest music festivals. Celebrating 20 life altering years of continuous events, Shambhala is THE British Columbia music festival to attend. Make no mistake that this once little known festival has now grown beyond its local market and has grown into one of the best festivals in North America. Held on a privately owned ranch, the festival is able to work on its infrastructure year round and truly allowing for the “home” feel. Breaking the standard mold of what music festivals are believed to be, Shambhala truly holds a special place is anyone’s heart who’s had the opportunity to attend. While tickets sold out in a mere 23 hours for this year’s event, there’s still plenty of hope. Be sure to check out our suggested means of securing your tickets for 2017 if you have yet to do so.

Atmosphere Gathering (Cumberland) August 18 – 20

At this point in the road trip you’ll likely have noticed quite a few centralized themes in many of the BC festivals. Scenic, beautiful, creativity, imagination, innovation, and most importantly community. With six festivals now under your belt, you’ll likely start to recognize plenty of familiar faces from vendors, performers and attendees. With an intimate setting and featuring a lineup of incredible talent from musicians, dancers and circus acts, Atmosphere Gathering offers up plenty of opportunity to explore. The recipe for Atmosphere is quite simple…

“We take three stages of musical mastery, mind tingling workshops and place it upon a beautiful landscape sprinkled heavily with art and splendour. Then we mix it with serious dance-off competitions and ridiculous games. Next we throw in two handfuls of culinary and market-type vendors. Finally we spread it onto a thick layer of beautiful happy people and bake it in the sun for three days.”

Motion Notion (Golden) August 24 – 28

Capping off our Ultimate BC Music Festival road trip is a festival we are highly excited to be a part of this year. Billed as Canada’s longest running psytrance and bass music festival, Motion Notion returns to their home in Golden, B.C. for their 18th year. With this year’s lineup featuring the likes of Datsik, Koan Sound, Avalon, The M Machine, The Dirtyphonics and more, it’s the perfect finale to our two month journey. Beyond the music, MoNo featured a total of eight stages in 2016 that spanned from a fully immersive 360 projection dome, to a massive LED pyramid.  Motion Notion has been flying under our radar for quite sometime, and we look forward to making the trek to beautiful Golden, British Columbia to take in all its glory later this August.

With now more than 2800 miles behind you, eight festivals attended and countless memories, we conclude the Ultimate BC Music Festival Road Trip. If you were able to stick with it from the beginning you’ll be fortunate enough to take in days of British Columbia’s natural beauty while exploring all the music scene has to offer. With a vibrant, and highly active music community spread across the province, you’ll understand what makes BC so wonderful. The dream of taking on a two month road trip to fully immerse yourself into the great music festival scene British Columbia has created is certainly a big one.

Luckily for most however, the ability to get a fill of the scene requires you to only attend a single festival. Any one of these events has the potential to leave lasting memories on attendees. Music Festivals give you the opportunity to express yourself, be free and celebrate the common bound that music has created. As we inch closer and closer to June, we look forward to seeing may of you across the PNW at some of our favorite events, so be sure to follow us on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram for all the latest music and news from the PNW!
