Jayceeoh Talks Redman Colab, Kobe and No Clearance Tour

With a newly-released EP and fresh outta Vegas for his No Clearance Tour kickoff, Jayceeoh is set to blow the roof off of the nation. We caught up with Jayceeoh and asked him what’s been going on with him, outside of his No Clearance EP release that has taken trap to a whole new level. We caught a hint of him collabing with Redman and had to know where that all stemmed from:

I actually had the unreleased single Turn Me Up Some produced and it had a sample from Redman. Fast forward a couple of months and both of us are booked on a festival in Croatia over the summer. I made it my mission to meet Red and play him the track to see what he thought. We ended up staying at the same hotel and I met him in a chill situation at a pool party. Played him a snippet on my iPhone and he was with it from there on.

A Redman sampled track-turned-lifelong dream collab; A pretty badass-sounding track for fans to look forward to in the coming new year. We had to know what it’s gonna sound like:

The record is a crazy 100bpm Twerk banger.

Sounds like something that these two could seriously pull off, especially after collabed hits like Hydraulics by Jayceeoh and Made Monster. So, what happens after one of your all-time faves decides to collab on a track you sampled after him? Is that the end? There has to be more. Thankfully, it sounds like there will be:

He proposed we maybe do an EP. For me that is a dream come true so of course I was down to start working on the project. As of now the EP is very preliminary but Red has written verses and started recording to a bunch of the tracks. Time will tell, but the project is gonna be awesome!

There’s a good chance if you catch him on tour you’ll be hearing a few brand new Jayceeoh originals, and maybe even the O.G. or Redman version of Turn Me Up Some… guess there’s only one way to find out. Outside of his own productions, we had to know which artists Jayceeoh is digging at the current moment. As a main taste-maker in the trap and electronic hip hop styles, and a new label Super 7 Records, you know he’s got his ear out there for those impressive new acts:

Tons of dope under the radar producers putting out some great stuff… Riot Ten from Texas grinds hard and puts out some fire tunes. BSSMNT is a production crew out of Belgium that I am working closely with. They have some bangers on the way. Also the homies Meaux Green and Styles & Complete have been putting out heat. So much undiscovered talent out there.

Combining the sounds of all of those artists would be quite an intense set, and you can bet that Jayceeoh’s live performance will be just that. With a new tour just kicking off, we had to ask if there’s anything special about his performance or any tricks up his sleeve for the show.

Anytime I step up to the decks push the envelope. I mix live. I scratch live. I make my sets on the fly. My sets this tour are different because I am at a point where I have so much of my own music to play in my sets. It is very rewarding seeing a crowd go off to your own production.

The crowd is sure to go off, even to his single 98′ Lakers (we still love you, Sonics) which has gotten some major plays since its release. Based in L.A., it was safe to assume Jayceeoh is a Lakers fan, and anyone who follows basketball knows that Kobe could be done forever with a knee injury. But injuries have never convinced him to retire so far. We asked Jayceeoh his thoughts on whether the basketball icon try to should push through another major injury or call it quits:

Yeah Kobe needs to hang it up. He is a legend. Got his rings. Time to chill and relax with all those millions. Same for Tiger Woods. You gotta know when it’s your time to bow out.

Fair enough. But will Jayceeoh be hanging it up anytime soon? We highly doubt it.
