It’s certainly an exciting time for Anjunabeats fans! Above and Beyond’s Group Therapy Weekender is coming up in July, and we are all anxiously waiting to pack our bags and deck out our campsites.
If you follow the label closely, you’ll know that there is another big announcement to look forward to. Paavo, one member of the Above and Beyond trio, has announced he is going to closely explore his own individual creativity. A new album via his solo project, “P.O.S.” In previous years, Paavo has released music under this alias. It has been quite some time though. The last time we heard material from P.O.S was in 2005 with his single Gravity.
The beloved label has come a long way since 2005. Its no surprise that Paavo has limited time to compose individually. It certainly takes a lot of attention to help run a label, in addition to the leg work of being one third of Above and Beyond. However, this year we were surprised to learn that Paavo will be releasing the P.O.S debut album, Deeper Tales, sometime this spring. A couple singles have already been released, and they certainly set the stage for what’s to come.
The first is Lonely River, a Kyan track remixed by both P.O.S and aname. After listening to this track, fans will find it clear that P.O.S is meant to explore a deeper side of Paavo’s virtuosity.
The second track, Polar Bears, a collaboration with Spencer Brown, gives a blissful and almost Latin American disco vibe. A second example of the contrast Paavo is looking to explore with his solo project.
Paavo has stated that P.O.S is his outlet to express the feelings he’s had while being out at sea, traveling the world. He wants this new endeavor to reflect how connected he feels with nature, watching the sun rise and sun set. Ultimately, this project will provide him a space to create with no rules and no expectations. How exciting!
Without a doubt, this new venture of Paavo’s will end up contributing to his ideas for Above and Beyond tenfold. It’s almost certain that Deeper Tales will be showcased this year at the Group Therapy Weekender. All while us fans get to watch the sun rise and sun set too!
All in all, we are extremely excited to follow P.O.S closely over the next couple months. It will certainly be a fun time for Anjunabeats fans to watch one of the masters create new pieces of solo work. Deeper Tales will certainly be an enhanced experience for Above and Beyond fans. We can’t wait to listen!
