Seattle & Boise Talents Team Up To Produce ‘Tell Me’ EP

Everything’s better in threes, especially when we’re talking about dance music collaborations. What’s even better is when we get to call all three talents “locals”, and this latest release from Seattle producer Trona is a prime sampling of what the Northwest has to offer in electronic music. The original mix of Tell Me is a bold R&B-meets-dubstep blend featuring the soulful voice of Seattle’s Adra Boo. Along with the original comes a Reggae remix and instrumental, with an added bonus remix from Boise bass talent Jakzon. There is so much to love about this collaborative effort, and even so much more to love about the Northwest’s electronic music scene. Take a listen to each version below, and get to know the artists.

Each artist involved in the Tell Me EP has their own solid musical background in all different realms of dance music. Trona, born Sam Paye and now settled in our hometown of Seattle, is actually a native of Liberia in West Africa. Immigrating to the US in the early 90s, his love for music began when his family moved to North Carolina, where hip hop reigned but an underground dance scene was developing. At 15, he began producing and DJing trance, ambient, breaks and more. Sam gained major support from artists like Crystal Method, and he’s produced ad spots for XBox, iPhone and Playstation. With a rich list of experience, keep Trona on your radar for vibrant blends of dance music, and check out his Reinvented EP for a free dose.

Trona describes his sound as “a score of urban surprises – a touch of hip-hop, a hint of dancehall, electronic soul, and a whole lot of FUCK YES!”

Adra Boo is the vocalist of the Seattle band Fly Moon Royalty, a funky electro-soul duo featuring the production styling of Action J. Together, they create a fulfilling fusion of music that’s fit for dancing, reminiscing, and exploring unique blends of traditional genres and modern day electronic flare. Catch Fly Moon Royalty at Bumbershoot this year on August 30th.

Jakzon is speeding up the bass ladder in electronic music, opening up for major acts like Candyland and Rusko most recently. His distinct sound in the bass genres is what sets him apart as a powerhouse producer on Knowledge Records‘ imprint, and he is making waves in Boise and beyond as a determined artist to keep our eyes on. Check out his originals like Wormhole and his remix of Sublime’s What I Got for a deeper insight to Jakzon’s talents, and be sure to download the Jakzon remix of Tell Me for free on Soundcloud.
