Some Minds: Flume’s Love Letter To Sydney

This week 23-year-old Australian producer Flume put out a brand new music video featuring the vocals from Andrew Wyatt of Miike Snow.  It’s one of his first original releases since his 2012 self-titled debut album.  “Working with Andrew Wyatt was one of the most natural collabs I’ve worked on – he is a seasoned pro and really opened me up to this new way of working,” said Flume.

The video was directed by Clemens Habicht and filmed inside the Sydney Opera House.  “It has such a presence, so much character,” Flume said of the Australian monument.   According to Flume, the music video perfectly portrays the balance between the real and the synthetic.  “It’s our love letter to Sydney.”

Some Minds is more complex than some of Flume’s other tracks and is a natural next step in his development as an artist.  The song starts out slow with an eerie and minimal washed out beat. After three minutes and what seems like an eternity, the song rises to the occasion with a knockout blow that ties everything together.

Some Minds is released via Mom & Pop in the United States and Future Classic in Australia.   Tell us what you think about Flume’s new song by sharing on Facebook and Twitter.

First gig in the music industry was as a low power FM broadcast radio DJ in 1996. First concert was Blink 182 with Bush and Filter in 1999. First electronic show was Benny Bennasi in June 2011. We've come a long way, baby.
