Flume’s back with a new single featuring Toro y Moi, new music video

This week in the pacific northwest music community was a difficult one, following many event cancellations in the wake of the COVID-19 virus. But, there’s some good news for fans of Flume and Toro y Moi- a new collaboration! Check out the single, and official music video, below:

Flume’s followup album on the way

This is Flume’s first single of 2020, ahead of his highly anticipated album due sometime this year.  A favorite in the northwest, this is a particularly good indication the next release is on track. The Australian producer also announced a three day Flume and Friends showcase at Red Rocks scheduled this June, so there’s certainly a lot in the works for Flume.

Toro y Moi: highlighting creativity through graphic design

The other half of the collaboration for The Difference, is rising act Toro y Moi. Although he’s released music on this project since 2010, his debut album Outer Peace in 2019 garnered much attention. But the man behind the musical project, Chaz Bundick, also holds a BFA in Graphic Design and creates art exhibits. Currently, his Corporate Solutions exhibit is running at the FISK gallery in Portland until April 5th, under his graphic design name Chaz Bear. For more information about the exhibit, head over to Fisk Studio’s site here.

What’s next for both Flume and Toro y Moi?

As we wait patiently for new music from both artists, this single is hope for expecting fresh collaborations and sounds. Flume’s self-titled LP, to the followup Skin, to his highly conceptual mixtape Hi This is Flume, each foster new eras of the artist, it’s certain this new album will draw from something completely different.

New Difference is no exception, with a more upbeat and driving indie beat. The dreamy vocals from Toro y Moi heavily complement the alternative sounding, dnb-influenced production from Flume. It’s a great track that highlights the strengths and sounds of both artists.
