Treefort 2020 officially canceled, pushed to September 2021

One of Boise’s largest music festivals, Treefort, is now facing postponement again after its original push from March to September 2020. In an update shared Tuesday morning, the festival organizers decided to cancel the September 2020 date altogether.

Now favoring a new date, the 9th annual Treefort Music Festival will be held September 22-26, 2021. Find Treefort’s full statement below regarding the decision.

Facing a second wave of festival cancellations this fall

While the magnitude of the pandemic becomes more disheartening each day it also becomes clear that festivals will be among the last to return. As COVID-19 cases surge throughout the country, organizers are confronted with a second wave of festival cancellations.

Setting an example, Treefort’s decision to postpone past their annual March date next year cites concerns of attendee safety. Their new September 2021 date potentially draws from a widely-circulated article speculating “high-risk” activities could resume as early as next fall.

Treefort community support stays deeply rooted

Despite the disappointing cancellation, Treefort pledges support for its community of musicians in Boise and beyond. In example, an artist spotlight series is now live on their Youtube channel. Featuring interviews and performances, the series offers a closer look at the people behind the music in short videos.

Another way they’re supporting: creating an emergency Treefort Live Music Relief Fund. Musicians received nearly $70,000 total through strategic partnerships and donors. Each receiving $1,000, Treefort supports many struggling artists. Additionally, as the first music festival organization to achieve B-Corporation status, Treefort commits to sustainability and inclusion. Their dedication to ethical practices shows the sky’s the limit in terms of community support.

The countdown for September 2021 begins

While ticket holders are due to receive additional information in the coming week, the rest of us have begun to count down to next fall.
