Armin Van Buuren: ASOT 650 “New Horizons” (Album Review)

His accomplishments speak for themselves, while his future plans reinforce the reputation.  Despite the success, Armin van Buuren does nothing less than shoot for the stars with everything he’s involved with. That enthusiasm and passion is proven with the consistent releases of quality mix albums such as ASOT 650 – New Horizons and the endless dedication to improving the fan experience as much as possible.  The compilation album starts 2014 after an impressive 2013 for the Dutchman. Last year Armin released his fifth studio album Intense while announcing plans for an ‘Armin Only: Intense’ world tour.

Armin van Buuren, looking cool as ever.

His mix is the perfect blend of uplifting trance and progressive house that ASOT listeners throughout the years will be familiar with. Armin spreads a few of his own tracks and remixes throughout the mix while featuring other artists such as Tiesto, Paul van Dyk, and Marco V. Keeping it simple without being basic, Armin captures the ASOT style, sound, and feel  perfectly with his 25-track set. It’s not surprising, yet just as impressive and excellent as you’d expect from a guy about to perform his 650th weekly radio show.

Hats off, Armin & Co., the album is great and definitely worth a buy when it becomes available on January 30th. Until then, you can pre-order the album on iTunes, drool over the mini-mixes, and let us know how excited you are for another classic ASOT album.
