FAK Wednesdays Moves: Good Vibes Ahead (Local Spotlight)

If you’re from Portland or the surrounding metro area, there is a very high chance you’ve heard of FAK Wednesdays. Over the past few years, BennyRox, the owner and founder of FAK, has made it his duty to grow the Portland night life and dance music scene, by bringing you the best vibes the city has to offer. With a great run at Whiskey Bar, one of Portland’s EDM hot spots, the weekly Wednesday night event is turning a new leaf and creating a fresh start at a burgeoning nightlife venue, Branx. Wednesday, January 7th kicked off FAK Wednesday’s new beginnings to major success, so much so that we were dying to see what the FAK Fam had in store for the following week.

Housed in a red brick warehouse space in the east side industrial quarter, Branx sheds the routine, bar-centric club feel for a gritty, underground dance vibe. Despite what you see on the aging exterior, the inside of the newly remodeled venue has a fresh, beautiful design. This new space has an area that will fulfill everyone’s needs: an open dance floor, an easily accessible bar, a raised section for gogos, hoopers, and light toys, and a lounge area where party goers can still enjoy the music, yet keep the dance floor open and unrestricted. To top it all off, a floor level stage serves as the icing on the cake, allowing the crowd to be up close and personal with whoever is laying down the beats.

If the venue alone wasn’t enough to keep you coming back, the love that you feel from everyone inside will. There is an overwhelming feeling of unity from Benny, his team, and the local DJs and producers, and that reflects onto the people that attend their events. Feelings like these are what the dance music scene was built off of to begin with! It’s beyond refreshing to be able to go out and see something outside of the regular nightclub or bar norm. The Dance Music Northwest team looks forward to many more FAK Wednesday events and seeing the Portland dance music scene flourish! To find upcoming events, check out the FAK Facebook page.
