The End Of The Rainbow: Your Lucky 2015 Genre-by-Genre Artist Guide

12th PLANET

Another pot of gold you’ll find at the end of the rainbow (also known as The Bass Stage at Lucky 2015) is SMOG Records boss 12th Planet. Los Angeles-based 12th Planet, aka John Dadzie, is one of the most influential acts in bass music today and was vital to the growth of dubstep and other bass music’s sub-genres during the late-2000s EDM boom in America. He’s worked with, and has the respect of, top artists like Skrillex and Plastician, while helping grow the heavier side of dance music for nearly a decade. 12th Planet will be making his third trip to the Northwest in a little more than a year, playing shows at Neumos in Seattle and the Whiskey Bar in Portland last year.

SOUND REMEDY

Chicago-native Sound Remedy has been delivering glorious remixes for years, from Lana Del Rey and Noosa to Wiz Khalifa and London Grammar. Fearing no genre and consciously attempting to push the boundaries and ‘rules’ of current trends and styles, Sound Remedy aims to deliver music that makes people feel. More often than not, he hits the mark. He was in Eugene on Valentine’s Day 2015 and performed in Seattle last year as well, and we hope that Sound Remedy continues to make Northwest stops a habit when touring.

LIQUID STRANGER

Swedish-born bass-enthusiast Martin Staäf, also known as Liquid Stranger, is a veteran of the dance music scene and a fan-favorite for bass heads across the globe. Releasing tunes with Canadian labels Interchill and Rottun Records, Liquid Stranger has been delivering quality tunes for more than a decade. He performed throughout the Northwest in 2014, playing in Boise, Eugene, and at Paradiso. If you ask us, it’s about time Seattle got on the list, but we’ll consider ourselves lucky this March 13th when we’re losing our minds at his set. You can check out his latest work, Anomaly: The Collection via Soundcloud here while you prep for the workout that is the bass stage.

SEVEN LIONS

Affectionately known as Seven Kitties, Jeff Montalvo (you may know him as Seven Lions, too) is back performing at a Northwest massive. There’s no such thing as too much Seven Lions, so the third Northwest festival in two years from the California-native is more than welcome. He performed at Lucky 2013 and Paradiso 2014, and also featured as support on Krewella’s Fall 2013 tour through the Northwest. His latest EP, The Throes of Winter, was released on March 3rd and is another comparable contribution to his incredible catalogue of tunes. His set will surely be packed, so make sure you’re there early, everyone else will be.

ZEDS DEAD

Zeds Dead has been wowing us since their huge remix of Blue Foundation’s Eyes on Fire was released five years ago. The duo, made up of Dylan ‘DC’ Mamid and Zach ‘Hooks’ Rapp-Rovan, are Toronto-natives and have been working together since 2004. This will be Zeds Dead’s Seattle-massive make-up after they were slated to perform on the cancelled second day of FreakNight 2014. They’ve made their Oregon fans happy, performing in Eugene in September of 2014 and again in Portland on Valentine’s Day of 2015. Co-headlining alongside Steve Angello, Zeds Dead are an act as worthy of the billing as any.
