Come Party With Justin Martin – Vancouver’s M.I.A. Turns One

If you’re in to house music and you live in Vancouver, there’s a 99% chance you’ve been to M.I.A. Nightclub. There is also an equal chance that you have slipped down the entry way stairs and got sludge all up the back of your legs. (Maybe you’ve even got the trademark M.I.A. bruises on your ass right now?) Don’t worry, falling down those stairs is like part of the initiation to get in and you should feel really proud. Luckily, the music is always hot and the drinks are always flowing – so you probably brushed it off anyways.

M.I.A. gives that perfect balance of big names within a small space that can be nearly impossible to find in a big city these days. With their capacity at a mere 275 people, you basically get to rub shoulders with the DJ’s all night. Did we also mention they’ve got that smooth Funktion One sound system that makes your ears melt like butter? Oh baby.

[pullquote]M.I.A. offers an inclusive space for alternative & avant strains of electronic dance music – whether rooted in r&b, hip hop, house or techno – all presented in a well-heeled setting.[/pullquote]

M.I.A. will be celebrating their one year anniversary next week and although they may be young they sure are mighty. In their first year as a venue they have brought in the likes of Justin Jay, Shiba San, Claptone, Mija, and Lee Foss. They surely aren’t holding back for their anniversary party either as they have brought the bass boss, Dirtybird’s Justin Martin, in for the special occasion. Start hydrating now because this is going to be BIG. Martin just released his newest full album on Wednesday and it is pure fire.

Anyways, we have got some serious love for that sweaty intimate basement and were going to show our love by partying with them this Thursday, April 28th, and you should too! Tickets can be found (here) and they are only 20 bucks. Bonus, it’s on a Thursday meaning the crowd won’t be diluted with the crazy weekend riff-raff. Just die-hard Justin Martin fans, win! Plus, local favourite Ryan Wells will be opening up and who knows what kind of madness he will have for us this time.

Follow this Vancouver hot spot @areyoumia on Instagram to keep track of all the deep house babes coming to town. Follow @justinmartin too, to creep his shenanigans. As always, toss @dancemusicnw a follow to keep up to date on all the EDM news.
