DMNW: You just came back from touring in China, India, and Australia. Tell us a crazy story or two!

ZV: “I spent my birthday on tour, in New Zealand. Next day, my phone just started to turn off randomly. Then it just shut off completely and I was phoneless for half of the tour. That was pretty tough not having a phone on tour and being so far away from home. Next day I got an email saying I had fraudulent charges on my debit card. So I didn’t have a debit card or a phone. A week later, the first day in China, my camera breaks. It was really hard not being able to post and share my experiences. However, I just kept shooting anyways and all the footage were “busted”, which actually worked out. My grandma and mom always said bad things happen in 3’s! I felt like it was just bad luck but it takes a lot to take my spirit down. I still had a blast and it was nice being off the grid.”

(Tour stories continued)

ZV: “Hayden (Herobust) and I were walking down the street in Sydney on Australia Day waiting for an Uber. All we wanted to do was go to a party and experience a good Australia Day but we didn’t know anyone in Sydney because we hadn’t had the show there yet. We were waiting for an Uber to go to Bondi Beach to hang, when all the sudden someone stops us and says, “No fuckin’ way you’re Herobust! Will you come up to our party? We rented a loft and you guys are more than welcome to come up and party with us.” So, in the end we got exactly what we wanted and got to crash an Australia Day party on their national holiday!”

DMNW: You are constantly on the road. What do you enjoy most about touring?

ZV: “Seeing new places, meeting new people, trying new food, and understanding more about certain cultures. I wish everyone had the chance to go on a tour to see what it’s like outside of the U.S. Seeing other parts of the world really opens your eyes and humbles you.”

DMNW: You are surrounded by EDM at work almost every single day. Do you listen to dance music when you are not working?

ZV: “I actually don’t really listen to electronic music at all. I listen to a lot of hip-hop. However, I’ve become friends with these DJs and I support them and I love supporting my friends’ music.”
