A Look Inside Summer Meltdown Festival With Founder Josh Clauson

As the festival deepens its roots in the Northwest, more and more opportunities open up for Josh and his team. This includes being able to select the best music they can each year, keeping in mind the overall vision that started Summer Meltdown. This year’s headliner is Northwest favorite Allen Stone, a genuine selection that fulfills the need for both a big-name act as well as embracing the best of the Northwest’s local talent. Choosing musical acts for a lineup can be a difficult task, but Josh has a strategic method in how he selects and treats the Summer Meltdown artists, and it hasn’t failed him yet.

Each year we try to bring a familiar vibe while building off of what we saw people get most excited about the year before. Being a growing event with thousands of attendees means we can reach for performers we’d never imagined 10 years ago. We’re so excited to unveil our headliner and our full lineup – it’s really a beautiful bill this year that we’re so happy to set the meltdown name on top of. I think that coming from a musical background myself has really made me careful to build strong relationships with the artist community. We like to treat bands to genuine hospitality and welcoming them like family, you know, how I’d like to be treated! -Josh Clauson

In addition to the artist lineup, Summer Meltdown continues to provide a fresh new production with each new year. Last year, Bellingham-based production company Sensebellum helped design and create a truly unique festival stage experience with their stunning visual technology. With the return of Sensebellum to the Summer Meltdown Festival, we can look forward to a world-class production brought to us by the best of the Northwest. Below you’ll see a recap of the festival through the eyes of Sensebellum, and catch a glimpse of what may be in store for this year.
