A Look Inside Summer Meltdown Festival With Founder Josh Clauson

[divider]Realizing The Vision[/divider]

Summer Meltdown Festival started off as all major productions do: A grand idea. Josh Clauson, founder of Summer Meltdown Festival, says that the idea came from his band Flowmotion back in 2000 as a way for them to raise money for touring expenses. Although the “festival” was more like a  party in the woods with friends and fans, Flowmotion would be the headliner of the first official Summer Meltdown Festival, along with other local bands and musicians. Little did they know they were kicking-off what would be the start of something lasting.

We started Meltdown when we were 21 as a way for my band to raise touring and gear funds. Things started to grow and the vision expanded to be about bringing together a larger bunch of like-minded people around amazing music from the Northwest and beyond. The first time around we made enough money to break even from our tickets that came with a plastic cup for the keg, and we had a bunch of fun, so we decided to keep a good thing going. -Josh Clauson
